Sunita Grover Raina and Sudhansu Parida take pleasure in sharing their duet poem—My Burning Heart
My Burning Heart
Sudhansu Parida
Something is grilling me
hard and deep
The fire in and around
and my burning heart
can’t a solace keep.
The world looks
dreary and deadly,
once so dear and close,
departed long
leaving me,
burning and lonely
Oh , dear
my pounding heart
give me a space to breathe
like the unwatered
plant
I whittle and writhe.
Like a lone worried bird
unknown of
destination,
I fly all day and night
always in search,
of a welcoming tree
so quiet
and a friendly bird to unite.
Might your enduring
love
could return my
forgotten calm.
Might your assuring
love
could prove a soothing
balm.

Love,
dear if it has to stay
will stay
Love stays with love
or it flies away
It is not a prey
and do not
make it obey
The more freedom it gets
the less it sways
You have to play
the game of love dear
Come what may.
Love seeks its fragrance
everywhere
And can follow it around
to nowhere
love gets intoxicated on itself
Crave for its entry
Rather than think about
its past exit
You have to play
the game of love dear
come what may.
Love needs
to be kept burning
Its intensity
never flickering
Always for it
keep on yearning
As if it is your
only doing
you have to play
the game of love dear
come what may.
